Ingredients

  • 4 cups red lentils (black-eyed beans can also be used)
  • 2 large red bell peppers
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup cooked shrimps
  • 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon basil leaves
  • 1 teaspoon oregano leaves
  • 1 teaspoon black seeds

Step 1

Rinse the first three ingredients separately.

Step 2

Pour the 2 cups of water in a blender and add the lentils, red bell peppers, and onions.

Step 3

Blend very well until there is a smooth consistency.

Step 4

Pour the blended mixture very well in a big bowl.

Step 5

Pour in the cooked shrimps, olive oil, salt, and the rest of the ingredients into the bowl.

Step 6

Mix very well and pour into a large Pyrex dish.

Step 7

Bake for 60 minutes at 325ºF.

Step 8

Serve with rice, plantains, or corn pap.
