CHICAGO, Illinois (March 5, 2013) — The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America will hold its 15th Annual International Halal Food Conference from April 6-8, 2013, in Rosemont (suburb of Chicago) in Illinois, USA. The theme of this year’s conference is “Halal United — An Integrated Approach” and will feature a number of sessions organized around it. In its fifteen-year history the conference has become a much sought-after & important venue to discuss and chart the future of the global halal industry. The annual turnover of the growing global halal market in 2010 was estimated at $640 billion, just in food products and over 3 trillion total consumables. Adopting an all-encompassing framework, the conference will cover not only the issues related to food but also non-food products, halal logistics, processing aids, packaging materials, and sanitation chemicals used in the halal industry. The conference will be addressed by renowned scientists, scholars, industry executives, and halal experts from around the world. In conjunction with the conference, a banquet will be held to honor key companies and individuals. Top government officials and diplomats are expected to attend and participate in the event. At the banquet dinner keynote address will be given by Chicago media icon and organic meat entrepreneur Bill Curtis.
