IFANCA was honored to participate in the global pledging event, “Investing in Humanity: Uniting to End Polio,” held on December 8 in Abu Dhabi and hosted by the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity in partnership with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). The event convened global leaders, philanthropists, and health partners who collectively announced commitments totaling US$1.9 billion to advance the eradication of polio worldwide.
This historic moment brought renewed momentum to the global fight against polio. The newly pledged funds significantly narrow the remaining resource gap in GPEI’s 2022–2029 strategy and will support efforts to vaccinate 370 million children each year while strengthening health systems in high-risk regions.
As part of this collective effort, IFANCA pledged US$4 million to support GPEI’s mission and to help ensure that children in vulnerable and underserved communities receive lifesaving protection. Speaking on the occasion, IFANCA President Dr. Muhammad Munir Chaudry reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to safeguarding children’s health.
“Supporting children and protecting the most vulnerable is central to IFANCA’s mission. We are proud to renew our commitment to the global effort to end polio and to help ensure every child is reached with lifesaving protection. The last mile is the hardest, but we stand with our partners across GPEI to finish the job and create a world finally free of polio.”
With wild poliovirus now endemic in only Afghanistan and Pakistan, the world is closer than ever to achieving one of the greatest public health milestones in history. For more than four decades, IFANCA has championed health, nutrition, and community well-being, and our continued support for polio eradication reflects our unwavering dedication to protecting the next generation.
IFANCA remains committed to working alongside global partners to help secure a polio-free future for all children.
