May I eat the food served on airlines?
Salman Chaudry
Meal service on airlines has become a rarity outside of long international flights. When there is meal service, airlines offer a variety of meal choices to meet passenger needs. The current classification includes a ‘Muslim’ meal rather than a halal meal. This often consists of the same meal tray as the regular service with a different entrée; the focus being that the entrée is acceptable for a Muslim. This often means a no-meat entrée which may also satisfy vegetarian and other special diets. Some airlines may offer Muslim meals with meat though there is no indication of halal certification provided with the meal. As more passengers request Muslim (halal) meals, airlines will respond to the demand and develop quality halal meals.
And ALLAH, Subhanahu wa ta’ala, knows best.
