IFANCA® At The First Gulf Conference On Halal Industry And Its Services In Kuwait

(January 24, 2011 – Al-Salmiyah, Kuwait...) The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA®) participated at the First Gulf Conference on Halal Industry and its Services in Kuwait, from January 24, to January 26, 2011. The conference was organized by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of Kuwait (MAIASK), the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR), and GCC Standardization Organization.
Dr. Muhammad Munir Chaudry, President of IFANCA, was a featured speaker in the program. He spoke on the “Chemical Status of Ingredients and Halal Production Requirements”. Dr. Muhammad Munir Chaudry shared thirty years of experience in ingredient technology in his presentation entitled Chemical Status of Food and Feed Ingredients. His talk also covered biotechnology and genetically modified (GM) food issues and the halal status of these processes. "The First Gulf Conference on Halal Industry and its Services will raise the global food and beverage industry's awareness of halal to a higher level," said Dr. Chaudry. He added that such conferences would enable Middle Eastern countries to join the same level of success that is currently enjoyed by Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. These countries offer excellent programs in halal certification for meat, packaged foods, cosmetics, medical, and lifestyle products. By implementing halal programs, these countries have enabled global companies to streamline business practices and enjoy fruitful, long-term relationships with their economies.
IFANCA® Presents at the Compassionate Care Network (CCN) Quarterly Provider Meeting

(January 28, 2011 -- Skokie, IL...) IFANCA spoke to audiences about the halal status of ingredients on January 28, 2011, during the Compassionate Care Network (CCN) www.ccnchicago.com Quarterly Provider Meeting. The talk was designed to help medical professionals understand the intricacies of food ingredients and how to better advise their patients about selecting Halal. "As a medical practitioner, it is important to know the dietary concerns of your patients," said Dr. Farhat Quadri, Director of Community Relations at IFANCA.??CCN was started in January 2004 to promote health awareness and to provide access to affordable healthcare for the uninsured. CCN was founded by local Chicago doctors, and has provided free monthly health screenings since its inception. The educational session took place on January 28, 2011, from 7PM to 9PM at the Holiday Inn North Shore.
